Gurudwara Pathar Sahib – A Sacred Sikh Shrine in Ladakh

Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, located about 25 km from Leh, is a revered Sikh shrine built in honor of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. According to legend, the Guru visited this site in the 16th century, where a demon attempted to crush him with a massive boulder. Miraculously, the rock softened, leaving an imprint of Guru Nanak's back, which is still preserved inside the gurudwara. Maintained by the Indian Army, the shrine welcomes devotees and travelers, offering langar (community meal) and a peaceful atmosphere. Surrounded by the stark beauty of Ladakh’s mountains, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib stands as a symbol of faith, humility, and divine protection.
